| In Year one our learning is still practical at the start of the year although lots of us are ready to work for much longer than we were in Reception, we use our outside area a lot to extend and enrich our learning and we especially enjoy using instruments, staying fit with hula hoops and skipping ropes and playing in the water or sand, which often has things for us to count or letters for us to write sentences with!
We love phonics and using Jolly Phonic actions and interactive games to help us to remember some of the trickier sounds and especially the ones that can be written different ways, we also read in groups often, we read to an adult and enjoy using the listening corner and book corner to listen to or read stories when we are choosing. Miss Mayle is our teacher and Mrs Bath helps us too, we work hard in Literacy, Numeracy and phonics and enjoy topic work in the afternoon, especially activities like making dream catchers out of willow from our willow dome with Mrs Bath and also playing in our role play area, at the moment it is a Native American settlement, we have a tepee, costumes AND a fire made of real logs too! We are very lucky to learn in such an interesting environment and we love school!
